Want To Know More About The Sport?

Heralded as one of Australia’s favourite sports, Rugby League was invented in Britain in 1895 and gained popularity in Australia in 1906 due to the arrival of Dally Messenger. The son of a sportsman with friends and family in high places, Messenger joined the professional rugby league team being formed in Sydney, New South Wales.

New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) and Queensland Rugby League (QRL) began building club competitions from 1908, evolving into the National Rugby League (NRL) competition encompassing 16 teams we have today. Rugby league has since held its position as the premier winter sport throughout NSW and QLD and has thus been shaping Australian culture for over 100 years now.
